Oval beads are found in treasures and graves from the late 9th to the early 12th century. They are most densely found in western and central Poland. In Silesia, they were recorded in 4 treasures: Kowale, the vicinity of Małkowice, Gębice and Cienkowice and in 2 cemeteries: Opole-Groszowice and Krzanowice.

  • Physical Dimensions: 20.0 × 12.0 mm; weight 1.535 g. Oval bead, intact, slightly crumpled. It is decorated with longitudinal double lines of granules dividing the surface into fields, filled with rows of rhombuses formed from balls. The holes of the bead are reinforced with a wire ring.
  • Provenance: A treasure from the vicinity of Małkowice; a 2022 donation from the Conservator of Monuments; the collection of the Lubomirski Princes' Museum in the National Ossoliński Institute
