Projeto Portinari
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Composition in light shades of blue and ochre and earthy tones, green, black and red. Smooth texture, tepresenting armed circus in the Brodowski Square and boys group watching a clown riding on donkey. In the foreground, on the left, gray donkey profiled to the left, mounted by a clown facing back and appearing to be playing with a group of children who are following. The clown wears pointy hat and light clothing, is smiling and has his arms stretched forward. He is turned back, looking to the right group of children from the direction of the composition, who look like they are following him. They have outlined facial features and wear shorts, except for one, who has brimmed hat and whose pants have one short leg and one long. In the background, to the left of center, armed circus with a row of colorful flags decorating it and the door to the center. Further in the background, on the right of the composition, warehouse with two doors indicated. The ground is flat and smooth, represented in light tones, and we see, in the foreground, suggestion of a bush and some simple flowers. In the background, fine line marking the horizon.
