Felting is one of man's oldest textile technologies, first made by matting animal hair and or plant fibres. Today most felt is made industrially but some artisans/designers still hand make felt. Felters in South African can take advantage of the high quality of merino wool produced domestically. Whilst typical products have a cottage-y feel, Krafthaus makes felt products with an elegant and modern aesthetic. Moreover the designer/owner taught herself and has gone on to teach the felters who now work for her.
