  • About Creator: José de Moura Alcântara was born in Careiro, Amazonas, in 1946. He earned the support of his family in many and varied activities, only discovering himself as a sculptor as an adult. He worked in a furniture workshop as a lacquer worker, and soon became a carver. He has a passion for the animals of the forest in his region, the jaguar being the apple of his eye. Visits to zoos, museums and libraries are part of his permanent study to faithfully reproduce the animal in wood.
