Following on from Paul Edmunds' artist-in-residence, his host Krafthaus continued to experiment with non-traditional ways of making felt. One of these was to directly use raw merino wool "tops" (essentially fleece that's been uncombed) giving the blanket a rougher texture. Krafthaus calls the style "Veld", an Afrikaans language word for field or pasture. The particular blanket shown, many metres wide and long, was used as a costume in the Cape Town Opera production of L'Orfeo, designer Bridget Baker, in October 2016.
