The art knowledge was transmitted to his disciples and his sons who gradually flourished the woodblock carving in the country. There are 624 woodblocks carving in the biography of Padma Lingpa, in which the colophon says, “Initiated by Thug-sey (heart-son) Dawa Gyaltshen (1499-1587) in the memory of his late father.” These woodblocks are considered as the oldest woodblocks in Bhutan.
