Arrival of the Turkish Armada. The map of Malta depicts the activity which took place when the Turkish armada arrived off Malta on the 18th May 1565

The fall of St Elmo. After a gallant defence, Fort St Elmo totally surrounded and with only a handful of survivors, was overrun by the Turks on the morning of the 23rd June. To the right of the panel stands Mustapha encouraging his troops, four thousand of whom had been killed in the month long siege of St Elmo
