This print depicts Ellen Douglas, the heroine of Scott's poem The Lady of the Lake. She is portrayed sitting beside the harper Allan-bane and waving farewell to James Fitz-James (King James V of Scotland incognito) (canto II, stanza 6). The print was engraved by Francis Engleheart after a drawing by Richard Westall.
