[inglês][datilografado] Dear Mr. Portinari: Both Mr. Herring and I were very happy to greet you and Mrs. Portinari with Miss Florence Horn and our mutual friend Miss Rudes, at the Howard University Gallery of Art. A week later I was very grateful to receive a note and one of the Modern Museum of Art catalogues of your exhibition from Miss Horn. We will be eager to present your collection in our Gallery during the month of April, 1941. I hope it will be convenient as you suggested to take care of the cost of transportation at that time. I am certain, since I know of your deep feeling and interest in Negro subject, that this show will have definate appeal for both our students and friends of the city. Won’t you let me hear from you in a short time as to whether it will be possible to have your paintings arrive here to be on view at the above mentioned time. We have just opened the exhibition of Christian art. Miss Rudes came to the opening and was, I believe, pleased with the response of the friends to the collection. Again I wish to express appreciation for the unusual interest which you have shown the Howard University Gallery of Art. We shall look to the exhibit with eager anticipation.
