Lion and lioness

The group is made up of two feline figures, one erect and the other lying down, equally facing a hypothetical prey. There is a relative difference in aesthetic quality between the two figures, in their respective treatment of the material. It can be assumed that the artist decided to bring them together at a later time, but the joint aggressiveness of the two beasts finds a conjunction that increases the intensity and drama of the instant narrated.
