La Madrona is a fishing sailing vessel that belongs to the "llagut" family – the "llagut" being the most commonly-used traditional fishing boat along the Catalan coasts. The longline fishing boat Madrona was built in Badalona in 1924, and belonged to the Montgat shipowner Bartomeu Codina, whose boats fished for sardines and hake. The boat was active as a fishing vessel until 1949, when it was purchased by the Museu Marítim de Barcelona.
