About Creator: Vitalino Pereira dos Santos (1909-1963), the son of a potter in Caruaru, used to make animals out of the leftover massapê that his mother shaped. He took them to the big and famous Saturday market. She couldn't have imagined that her fame would far surpass that of the fair. In Alto do Moura, a school was created, with other potters taking inspiration from Vitalino's production. This school also includes his children and grandchildren, as well as the descendants of his disciples.
