Blood red are the lines that lead from Christ's hands and feet, fixed to the cross with thick nails, to the hands and feets of the kneeling saint. The miniature shows the stigmatization of St. Francis. St. Margaret, herself a Franciscan non, has been included into the scene in a smaler scale. Jesus is adorned with the six wings of the Seraphim, the highest ranking angels.
