Francisco Goya completed seven miniature portraits on circular copper sheets for the wedding of his son Francisco Javier to Gumersinda Goicoechea on July 5, 1805. As well as the bride, he created images of the bride's parents, her three sisters, and the groom (Goya's son Javier Goya). They were done on fine, copper sheets covered with a thick layer of reddish-brown preparation material which brings out the darkest shadows. Despite their small size, these portraits show the artist's skill, precision, and excellent technique.
