  • About Creator: Solon Alves de Mendonça (Cachoeira do Salobro/Feira Nova, PE, 1920 - Brasília, DF, 1987) saw a puppet show at the age of eight and that was enough to ignite his passion. He dedicated himself to making and working with puppets – but not only. Other wooden sculptures and mechanized pieces earned him recognition that he himself didn't share: “They call me an artist (...); I work in art, but I don't consider myself a total artist,” documented anthropologist and curator Lélia Coelho Frota.
