The five categories S. Highlands bilum pieces have distinct local dialect names found in different societies they represent. The bilums have the common features on bilum structure with only pure white fiber in pig, baby, garden, bilum wear and sacred bilum. They have different sizes and are weaved with no designs and patterns but occupy distinct cultural spaces in societies they represent. Few pieces of pig and baby bilums are lost and need to be revived and preserved for safeguarding.
