Journalist and politician. In January 1899, he took control of the review "Le Sillon" founded in 1894 by Paul Renaudin. Militant for a social Christianity, but condemned by Pius X (1910), he submits. He founded the "Young Republic" (Jeune République) movement (1912) and launched the daily "Democracy" (Democratie). He fights for peace and against racism. Founder of the French League of Youth Hostels (Ligue française des auberges de jeunesse) in 1929. Member of the French Parliament from 1919 to 1924 and in 1946. During the 20th century and still today, French movements of Christian democratic inspiration claim to be Marc Sangnier
