The École Polytechnique is an engineering school combining research, teaching, and innovation. Ever since it was founded in 1794, the school has always based its teaching and research on a multidisciplinary model, aiming to give its students a taste for research and innovation in the pursuit of progress.
Mus'X, the museum space inside the École Polytechnique, was created in 2018, thanks to the sponsorship of the Association des amis du musée de l'École polytechnique, now merged with the Société des amis du musée et de la bibliothèque (Sabix).
It displays more than two centuries of history. The scientific collections housed by Mus'X were originally gathered for use during teaching experiments and demonstrations. Now heritage objects in their own right, these instruments are now housed with a backdrop worthy of their history and the quality of their production.
The historical resources also include other media. From the beginning, artistic drawings were also collected for drawing courses, as the engineer needed to master the art of drawing. In addition, school life and the activities of the thousands of women and men have produced vast archives which are sometimes at odds with the image that people have of such an institution.
