Given to the Central School of Public Works on 24 Frimaire Year III by the national depot on rue de Beaune, the etching was seized on June 6, 1793, rue Montholon, at the Marquis de Clermont d'Amboise hotel, killed at the Tuileries, August 10, 1792. Ambassador to Naples from 1776 to 1782, he met Desprez who worked under the direction of Vivant Denon and the Beautiful Journey of the Abbot of Saint-Non, then to Rome and then to Paris where he bought his etched drawings
