Since his earliest works, the artist has been building upon decomposition and the subtraction of expressive forms. This reductive process, in which only minimal elements are used, is predicated upon a distrust of language and its narratives, mirrored by the sidelining of the two-dimensional surface in favour of video and music. It’s as if the only way the artist could construct a genuinely legitimate artistic object, one that were both free and open to conditioning factors, was to go all the way back to the immateriality of sound.
Carioba’s production involves visual and sonorous experimentation in electronic mediums, but the artist never limits himself to any one approach. As an electronic music producer, his performances mix a range of sonorities that stimulate the listener’s senses, oscillating between sweet timbres and aggressive sonorous experiences.
