With a bold expression, holding a map and a quadrant, Prince Henry the Navigator is the host of the Maritime Museum, surrounded by the navigators who, under his orders, undertook the first sea voyages of exploration of the Atlantic. Son of King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster was born in Porto in 1394, forming with his brothers and sister the generation that Camões praised as the inclita (illustrious), due to their training, preparation and achievements.
