Still life with Mushrooms

Filippo de Pisis (1896-1956) was born in Ferrara where he approached the study of drawing at a young age. During his long career as a painter he approached the avant-garde, while conducting an eminent literary and critical work. The move to Paris brought him into contact with the works of the French impressionists, clearing his palette and creating his typical light, fast, shorthand style, which with freshness transcribed the fleeting visual impression. In the 1920s de Pisis exhibited in important exhibitions and participated in many exhibitions of Italian art in various European cities. Between the 30s and 40s he intensified his work as an illustrator and critic, in 1939 he left Paris because of the war and returned to Italy, devoting himself completely to painting: city views, portraits, many still lifes. An important example of this is "Still Life with Mushrooms", made by the artist in 1934.
