TELEPOMIN BILUM

The West Sepik five category bilum pieces are combination of pure white pieces weaved by women for various purposes. The different traditional societies of West Sepik have common features dominate big bilum handles, single or double bilums, only white fiber used accept for Telepomin bilum has very few colors. The patterns and designs are very distinct to their cultural context. They have distinct names and occupy cultural spaces in their societies. Few pieces are lost and need to be restored and preserved.
