Künstler Informationen: Domenico Veneziano was an Italian early Renaissance painter and worked mainly in Perugia and Tuscany. He moved to Florence in 1422-1423 to become a pupil of Gentile da Fabriano. Between 1423 and 1430 he is presumed to have worked with Pisanello and his paintings also bear the influence of Benozzo Gozzoli. Veneziano himself exerted a lasting impact on Andrea Mantegna. From 1439-1445, he worked on the decorations of the Portinari chapel in the hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence. One masterpiece of his is the St. Lucy Altarpiece (1445), originally designed for the Santa Lucia dei Magnoli in Florence. He is also known for a round panel depicting the 'Adoration of the Magi' (1439-1441).
