Moritz Lotze (1809-1890), a German-born artist, studied as a painter in Dresden but was best known as a photographer. In 1852, he founded a major photography studio in Verona, which quickly became the most sought-after in the city and one of the leading ones in Northern Italy. Lotze, despite his photographic activity, did not abandon painting. "To the Mountain" is an oil on panel painting that testifies to the artist's passion for the subject of landscape.
