John Ristrom (9th January 1933 - 29th November 2020) was an artist based in Maryborough, Victoria, Australia. This work depicts a train Maryborough Railway Station, a grand red-brick complex building built in 1890 as part of the vision for a rail-connected Victoria. When Mark Twain visited Maryborough in 1895 he quipped ‘You can put the whole population of Maryborough into it with a sofa apiece and have room for more'.
