An oil on canvas painting by South African / Dutch artist Pieter Wenning (1873-1921) titled A View on Daspoort done in 1911. Today Daspoort is a suburb of Pretoria the capital of South Africa. In 1911 it was still outside the city perimeter. On the hill in the centre of the painting is the Fort Daspoort a remnant of the South African War (1899-1902), the fort was built prior to the war to protect the city from invasion by the British empire.
