Projeto Portinari

Projeto Portinari
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Composition in tones orange, blue, green, yellow, red, ochre, earthy, gray, white and rose. Rough texture, marked strokes. Double representation of newlyweds surrounded by men and women, against geometrized background. Group compact, cohesive, composed of twelve people standing in front. The bottom of the composition and representation group were worked in various colors composing geometric shapes. These forms and transparency effects resemble stained glass work. Men are identified by the hats on their heads. Women wear dresses with geometrized and multicolored prints. The newlywed couple is depicted on the left of center, with the bride and groom on the left to the right. The bride is the arm of the bridegroom, wears short dress, turned and with long sleeves. Dress and veil predominantly white with touches of blue and green. The groom wears hat, blue shirt with orange tie and suit in juxtaposed and superimposed varying shades. He has the face to the right and upward. On the right, four women with faces turned to the left. Behind the bridal couple, three men and a woman. To the left and slightly behind, a man and a woman. Geometrized background where stand-vertical stripes in "degrade" the corners to the center of the composition.
