These two ivory spikes are depository of the Center of Research in Natural Sciences, CRSN at Lwiro in the South-Kivu, eastern of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two ivory spikes are from an elephant slaughtered in the Bwito locality in the Kivu by Jean Bormans on 11-12-1943. The two spikes was unique and became a world record due to the particular big dimensions of the external curves, respectively 3m.505 (136inch) and 3m.304 (130inch), with the weight of 68 kg & 61.50kg. The owner of this trophy entrusted the custody to the former IRSAC (Institute for Research in Central Africa), actually CRSN (Center for Research in Natural Sciences) of Lwiro in South-Kivu, DRC. As consequence of the ongoing armed conflicts in the Kivu, a part of the ivory was stolen when the CRSN was attacked in the past. This trophy can be wondered at the Center of Documentation and Library of the CRSN Lwiro.
