World War I Dutch Société Céramique Out of Danger plate, designed by Joseph Frenay. The female figure wearing a crown inscribed with the letter ‘N’ (Netherlands) is the Virgin of Holland and the figure in the blue dress is the symbolic mother of Belgium. The plate is inscribed, "Buiten Gevaar" meaning ‘Out of Danger’ commemorating the million war refugees that The Netherlands took in during the First World War (1914-1918).
