The International Biennale of Antiques (BIAF) was established in 1959 in Florence. Since then, it is has been regarded as one of the most important art events, as each edition provides an exquisite glimpse of the extraordinary variety of Italian artistic history. The Florentine antiques environment has a crucial role in absorbing, enhancing and representing the different artistic realities in Italy. It is indeed in Florence where art dealers have funded different museums such as the Bardini Museum, Horne Museum, Museum of Palazzo Davanzati or the Fondazione Salvatore Romano, just to provide some examples. Since its inception, the Biennale has represented the excellence of the classic taste that the city of Florence embodies in history and, in time, has been widely promoted also by foreign historians and critics. Due to its international nature, each edition of the Biennale sees the attendance of relevant guests not only from the art worlds but also from the movie industries to international politics. The incredible quality and variety of artworks presented in every edition makes the Biennale a cultural event aimed to promote the research and knowledge of beauty.
