Historic Hawai‘i Foundation is a state-wide nonprofit organization founded in 1974 dedicated to helping people save historic places. With a passion for telling stories about people, history and culture through the celebration of historic buildings, cultural sites and communities, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation explores, preserves and shares diverse cultural and historic places and perspectives of Hawai‘i and works to ensure that the heritage of every historical era remains as a living, useful part of the present.
Through its core programs (Education, Advocacy, Assistance, Protection) and strong partnerships with public, private and non-profit organizations, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation has become a major force behind preservation in the state. Key activities include developing a community ethic of historic preservation, supporting smart legislation, and providing direct assistance to individuals and communities to make preservation accessible to all.
