The 'Commitment to Vows' Ritual
The 'Commitment to Vows' was an annual retreat held at the Naidan Temple, lasting from the 15th of the first month of summer to the 15th of the middle month of autumn. During this time, monks dedicated themselves to upholding the vows of the sangha.

In tantric rituals, the damaru, a two-sided hand drum, is used by Dakini goddesses, representing their enjoyment. It symbolizes emptiness, alongside the bell which represents compassion, creating a harmonious duality in Buddhist practices.

It’s said that Yidam deities will bless despite far distance if one has all the ten objects of the oath, including vajra, bell, damaru, rosary, and inner offerings in tantric meditation. The sound of damaru symbolizes emptiness and the bell symbolizes compassion.
