Queensland University of Technology (QUT) acknowledges the Turrbal and Yugara as the First Nations owners of the lands where QUT now stands. Queensland, located in northeastern Australia, is known for its diverse geographical features and climates. These include tropical rainforests, rivers, coral reefs, mountain ranges, sandy beaches and deserts and savannah.  

Queensland has a range of climates. The northern coastal areas have a tropical climate with hot and humid summers and milder winters. As you move south, the climate becomes more subtropical, with warm summers and mild winters. The inland regions typically have a semi-arid or desert climate, with hot temperatures and low rainfall. 

With its vast land area of 1,852,642 square kilometers (715,309 square miles), Queensland ranks as the world's sixth-largest sub-national entity. It is larger than all but 15 countries. 

The Daintree Rainforest, is located on the northeast coast of Queensland, Australia. It is situated approximately 105 km (65 mi) north of Cairns and extends from the Daintree River to Cooktown, encompassing the area between the coastline and the Great Dividing Range. Mossman Gorge, a popular tourist destination located about 30 km (19 mi) south of the Daintree River, is often considered part of the region as well. 

Covering an area of around 1,200 square kilometers (460 sq mi), the Daintree is a significant portion of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, which is the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest in Australia. The Wet Tropics, including the Daintree, are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to their outstanding universal value and ecological importance.

These rainforests have persisted over millions of years and harbor a diverse range of plant and animal species, some of which are endemic and found nowhere else on Earth. The area's remarkable biodiversity and evolutionary significance make it a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts and tourists seeking to explore pristine natural environments.

One of the most well known and stunningly unspoilt Queensland islands is K'gari (Fraser Island).  It is a World Heritage-listed island along the south-eastern coast in the Wide Bay–Burnett region, Queensland, Australia. The island is approximately 250 km (160 mi) north of the state capital, Brisbane, and is within the Fraser Coast Region local government area. Lake Wabby is a small freshwater, green-coloured lake. It is located in the Great Sandy National Park on the eastern side of K'gari off the coast of Queensland, Australia.  Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) is a perched lake on K'gari in Queensland, Australia. The lake is located in the Great Sandy National Park.
The lake is located 6.2 km southeast of Kingfisher Resort. It is 1,200 metres long and up to 930 metres wide. It is approximately 150 hectares in area.

In addition to the Stockman's Hall of Fame, Longreach and its surrounding areas offer a range of other attractions and activities. These can include visits to the Qantas Founders Museum, which showcases the history of Qantas, Australia's national airline, and the Outback Heritage Centre, where visitors can learn about the pioneering history of the region.
