Blooming
Created by Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA), Blooming (Dệt Một Áng Hoa) reimagines traditional Vietnamese blue-and-white ceramic patterns with a contemporary sensibility.
Inspired by floral motifs—peonies, lotuses, citrus blossoms, chrysanthemums, and honeysuckle—found on ancient artifacts and temple architecture, BTMA’s design team reinterprets these into new compositions, fully hand-painted in signature indigo hues.
Motifs are stylized and restructured to suit each ceramic form.

BTMA refreshes traditional blue-and-white ceramics through research-driven design and contemporary adaptation.
Each motif is entirely hand-painted, with the ink tones carefully adjusted to preserve the signature indigo of classic blue-and-white ceramics.
Every step, from material choice to kiln control, brings out a naturally classic palette—less sharp in contrast than typical blue-and-white ceramics.
The ivory-toned ceramic base was intentionally chosen to bring out the depth of the hand-painted indigo patterns found in traditional Vietnamese wares.
Blooming TOGAN table lamp (BTMA x BEAULO by ARB Architects) inspired by a ceramic work by the late People’s Artisan Vũ Thắng—currently displayed at the Bat Trang Museum of Viet Soul Art. TOGAN is reimagined with a lampshade designed by architect Nguyễn Hà of BEAULO. Its silhouette evokes the traditional mỏ quạ headscarf worn by Northern Vietnamese women.
The Ceramic Replica of AI ƠI Handbag (BTMA x LUU VIETANH) in Blooming. This piece is inspired by the gift baskets shared during Vietnamese festive gatherings. It tells a story of Vietnam through a fresh, contemporary lens.
In collaboration with Leap Art Vietnam, the Blooming motifs extend beyond ceramics, finding form in velvet louis chair, embroidered áo dài, quilted jackets, and hand-sewn accessories.
