Te doy mi palabra" Obra: ¡¡¡¡ Sí nos importa el bledo!!!! (2015-05-04) by Argelia BravoBolivarian Republic of Venezuela - Biennale Arte 2015

Yes, We do care... !!!

The work ¡¡¡ Sí nos importa el bledo...!!!! (Yes, We do care...!!!) of artist Argelia Bravo is built on the framework of video, although the photographic printings add a sensorial aspect to it. Bravo is irreverent; she shoots precise and convincing slogans that, by means of humour, sarcasm, and political pep talk, show some real ways of militancy that she lives with: feminism, ecology, social justice, domination mechanisms, patriarchy sedimentation; she reports on all these subjects in a direct way, but with a formality that sometimes brings poetry to our senses, and sometimes beats them.

Ma-Jokaraisa

Poets are kind of an ethic and aesthetic conscience of peoples. Through them, words coming from the soul and daily life take a shape and stay in the memory forever. Be it Warao, Spanish or any human language, we acknowledge in them a desire for memory, an aesthetic construction, and a sensitive mechanism to share dreams and battles.

Ma-Jokaraisa means “My other heart” in Warao language; this is the way this people from the Orinoco Delta uses to refer to “friend”. From this concept, alien to his mother tongue, Flix composes a universal reference of welcoming and affection, of evident semiotic knitting and sensorial suggestion.
