About the BBC Proms
The BBC Proms, formally named the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, was founded in 1895.
Based in London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, it is an annual eight-week summer programme of daily classical music concerts and is often cited as the world's greatest classical music festival.

Sheku was the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year and an original member of Chineke! Orchestra.
Prom 62: George Walker, Lyric for Strings
Continuing their tradition of championing works by Black, Asian and ethnically diverse composers, Chineke! also performed George Walker's Lyric for Strings.
US composer George Walker was the first African-American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Chineke! were also joined by Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique for a performance of Rejoice Greatly from Handel's Messiah.
