Au silence

"His gouaches and his paintings give away an increasingly hypnotic power and his glance seems deeper and deeper, as far as to pierce reality with the power of the infrared and of the X-Ray. Is is by chance that the harbor of Hamburg has been, for twenty years, reoccurring in his work? This harbor familiar to him, mostly destroyed in the time of his childhood, he seems to watch his ghostly appearance, and in the night, its lights, such as the ones that would reach us from dead stars. Christoph von Weyhe remains for me this diver who sinks ceaselessly into the depths and silence, looking for a town of Y's and what André Breton called the gold of time." Patrick Modiano
