The Fourth Plinth Schools Awards

Launched by the Mayor of London's office in 2007, the annual awards invites children from primary and secondary schools in the 33 London boroughs to enter a competition in which they create their own art works inspired by the commissions for the Fourth Plinth.

The competition culminates in an exhibition of the best entries at City Hall during the summer term.

A New Generation of Artists

The winners in each of three age groups: 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15 years, receive their awards from the judges who include past Fourth Plinth artists and other figures from the art world.

The Future for Art is Bright

In the first year there were 400 entries, rising to 700 in 2012, 1,200 in 2013 and 2,250 in 2019. This rising popularity of the awards may just secure the future of the Fourth Plinth Programme.
