The artist was born in Basra, Iraq in 1938. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1956 and then studied in Warsaw, Poland. Along well-known artists, he co-founded "Toward a New Vision Group". He is considered one of the prominent artists of Iraq.
