The Park measures 3,325 square kilometres and spans Taveng and Voeun Sai districts, Siem Pang district, and Stung Treng and Ratanakiri provinces.

Known for its remoteness, tourists can visit sacred ritual sites, birdwatch, mountain climb, trek, and ride river boats.

The Habitat

The park is made up of dense semi-evergreen lowland and montane forests; upland savannah; bamboo thickets; occasional patches of mixed deciduous forests; secondary grass and scrub land formations; and marshes.

Virachey National Park harbors about 75 per cent of Cambodia’s humid, medium elevation habitats.

Unique Fauna

Home to species like Germain’s peacock pheasant; Siamese fireback; red-collared woodpecker; sunbirds; flower peckers; hornbills; elegant Siamese pheasants; Shy pitta; wild dog or dhole; Asiatic black bear; Asiatic softshell turtle; Asian giant pond turtle; and impressed tortoise.
