What is your first memory of Gilberto Gil? What was the meeting with him that struck you the most?

Roberto Carlos:

I had the pleasure of meeting Gilberto Gil backstage at the Record Festival in 1967.

Then, I had another great pleasure when I was invited to participate in Gil’s concert: 20 Anos-Luz, which he performed at Anhembi, in 1985, with several other artists in celebration of his 20 years of career.

At that time, you were recording your 1985 album, which features hits like “Verde e amarelo” and “A atriz.” How was it stopping your production to dedicate yourself to the celebration of one of your “one million friends”?

Roberto Carlos:

I remember I was in New York recording my year-end record, and the day before the concert, at night, I took a flight to São Paulo. I arrived the next morning, participated in the evening celebration, and returned the next day to New York to continue working on the record.
