World Orchestra Series, the Festival of World-Renowned Orchestras

In the 2016 World Orchestra Series, performance of Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki; performance of Orchestra de Paris conducted by Daniel Harding; performance of Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrea Battistoni, etc. were held.

In the 2017 World Orchestra Series, orchestras from Poland, Russia, Swiss and Austria such as Sinfonietta Cracovia, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterhur, Wiener Symphoniker, etc. performed in Daegu Concert House.

Philharmonia Orchestra of the 2018 World Orchestra Series

The performance of Philharmonia, representative orchestra of the UK, was conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen and received great attention because of the collaboration with pianist Krystian Zimerman and violinist Esther Yoo.

Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra

The Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by beloved Mark Kadin of Russia performed with pianist Konstantin Scherbakov who is called as 'the living Rachmaninoff'.

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie marked the end of the 2018 World Orchestra Series

The last stage of 2018 World Orchestra Series was presented by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie led by Paavo Järvi with Hilary Hahn who is praised as the queen of the 21^st century violinist. 

The world’s best orchestra, Wiener Philharmoniker

The stage of the Wiener Philharmoniker is a masterpiece itself with tradition and history. Wiener Philharmoniker tours only the world’s central cities while maintaining their reputation and visited Daegu in 2019.

Maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada who has conducted the world’s top orchestra and pianist Yefim Bronfman who inherits the traditional pianism of Russia presented the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto and the Dvorak’s ‘New World’ Symphony to the audience.

Mariinsky Orchestra, containing the history and tradition of Russia

Conductor Valery Gergiev performed with violinist Clara-Jumi Kang who has the elegance and strength.

Trondheim Symfoniorkeste

The Trondheim Symfoniorkeste representing the Northern Europe has been working with maestro Daniel Harding and Krzysztof Urbanski. Since 2017, Han-na Chang has taken over the baton and is winning a worldwide reputation as the prestigious orchestra.

The orchestra presented the work of Grieg who conveyed the Nordic sensibility. The orchestra was conducted by Han-na Chang who has turned into a female conductor from a cellist and performed with pianist Dong Hyek Lim. Watch the symphony of Tchaikovsky in the next video.

Musikkollegium Winterthur which have the world’s oldest history

Musikkollegium Winterthur with 400 years of history and world’s beloved cellist Mischa Maisky received a great acclamation on their stage by the audience of Daegu in 2019.

New York Classical Players, a stage of young artists

The NYCP(New York Classical Players), composed of creative young musicians and pursuing high-quality performances, was conducted by Dong-min Kim with trumpeter Brandon Ridenour and clarinetist Yoonah Kim in 2019.

WOS Virtuoso Chamber

2020 World Orchestra Series committee established “WOS Virtuoso Chamber”, a string ensemble composed of musicians who are actively performing in Korea and abroad, and they performed in Daegu Concert House and also in Seoul, Andong, Gwangju. 

Korean National Symphony Orchestra

The female conductor Anu Tali and pianist Jong hai Park performed with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra(formerly Korean Symphony Orchestra). 

At the 2021 World Orchestra Series, under the subtitle ‘The Great Maestro Series’, world-renowned conductors could be seen at one festival. The WOS Virtuoso Chamber conducted by Tania Miller performed with violinist Soyoung Yoon. 

KBS Symphony Orchestra

The music director of New York Philharmonic, Jaap van Zweden conducted the KBS Symphony Orchestra. 

Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra 

The Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Massimo Zanetti performed the final stage of the 2021 World Orchestra Series. 

Seong-Jin Cho, Sir Simon Rattle&London Symphony Orchestra

London Symphony Orchestra opened the stage of the 2022 World Orchestra Series. It was Sir Simon Rattle's first concert to visit Daegu and the last stage in Korea as the conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, Sir Simon Rattle, a master conductor, and world-renowned pianist Seong-Jin Cho met in Daegu, and Daegu audiences were heated up for the stage.

Dong-Hyun Kim&The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra, a youth orchestra composed of members aged 14 to 24, and violinist Dong-Hyun Kim, who winned the third prize in the Tchaikovsky Competition, performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto.
