Zuccardi winery

The building was constructed in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley (Mendoza) in 2016. It pays homage to the mountain, which defines both the climate and soils in the region, elevating the vineyards and olive groves of the family business, founded in 1963.

Local materials

The winery is constructed from stones from the local area—round, white, limestone—and water and sand from the River Tunuyán. It was designed to utilize cement from outside to inside, from the stone walls to the concrete pools where the wines are made.

The mark of the mountain range

Seeking a balance between vanguard design and familial warmth, the winery blends into its surroundings. Asymmetrical walls, of different sizes, feature curves at the top to mirror the Andes mountains.

International distinction

Using the mountains’ form in the design caught the eye of the specialists. The Great Wine Capitals network awarded the Gold Award for Best Global Architecture and Landscape to Zuccardi Uco Valley in 2017.

Inside, there are impressive concrete receptacles to separate the grapes. In the bottle storage area, there is an enormous stone, which was found when construction began, and today is the emblem of the project.

Salentein winery

This winery, which led the transformation of the Uco Valley, was built in 1998. It comprises a series of spaces in the shape of a cross, with wings that converge in a circular, central chamber similar to an amphitheater. There is also an impressive underground wine cellar, inspired by a compass.

Art among the vines

In the same location is Killka, a cultural space in the middle of nature, designed so that visitors can experience everything related to wine culture. It also holds a valuable collection of contemporary Argentinian art, and 19th- and 20th-century Dutch art.

Trapiche winery

This pioneering winery is located in Maipú (Mendoza). Its Florentine-style building was constructed in 1912, closed for 40 years, and then reopened in 2006. It was reclaimed in an extraordinary evocation of its beginnings, with up-to-date machinery and train tracks running alongside.

Piatelli winery

The design of the Piatelli building is one of the main landmarks on the wine route high up in the province of Salta, with its epicenter in the town of Cafayate, the great wine capital of the north-east region.

With a style that combines colonial airs with the construction techniques of the local people, the building was designed to work with gravitational flow to move both the grapes and the wine, to consume less energy, and to respect the natural processes of the fruit.

Schroeder Family winery

Located in San Patricio del Chañar, Neuquén, one of the most southerly wine-growing regions in the world, the winery was built into the side of the valley, fully integrated into the natural landscape of the Patagonian plateau.

Its modern building, approximately 72 feet (22 m) tall, is made from reinforced concrete and cement blocks. During its construction, fossilized remains of a herbivorous dinosaur were found, dating back around 75 million years. This offers an added attraction for visitors.

SuperUco winery

From Tunuyán, Mendoza, its owners boast the distinction of having the most sustainable winery in the world. That is the result of a decade of work to create wines of excellence from a vineyard that works in an organic, ecological, and biodynamic way.

Circular design

The winery was designed in a circular shape, as an octagon in the middle of the estate, and joined to a further three by closely linked paths, in harmony with the road to perfection offered by the region’s own nature.
