Drawing defines the artist and the landscape is her vehicle. The drawings are pared down to essential elements. There are no figures in these works – the viewer is intentionally invited in to become a part of the journey.

After finishing her BFA at UMASS/Amherst in printmaking, the artist went to Poland and received her MFA from the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. This formative experience ignited her interest in using landscape metaphorically.

Influenced by American Transcendentalism and Polish Symbolism, the artist's work addresses universal concerns about the nature of existence and the anticipation of the unknown.

While you are traveling, the window is of utmost importance. You sit, passively, contained. Outside, however – all is changing. Clouds, cars, hills, houses and trees move and dramatically change your perspective.

How can you hold on to a memory from a journey? It is like grasping a shadow. Drawing helps; endless mountains, melancholic trees – streams, roads, rivers like ribbons of memory or lines from a poem. The experience itself is intangible, limited and precious. The landscape presents itself as a classic medium for voicing the considerations of life.
