Oil painting is an art of the world. In China, it is a typical imported art. If the 100 years of the 20th century condensed the 400-year history of Chinese oil painting, the three generations of Chinese contemporary oil painters are the representatives of the integration and development of Eastern and Western arts.

Dr. John Abraham Otte was a (Dutch) American surgeon. He founded Hope Hospital, the first Western medicine hospital in Xiamen, and taught many students.

Lin Qiaozhi, or Kha-Ti Lim, was born in 1901 in Xiamen. She was the first native female physician hired as an assistant resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PUMC hospital, and revolutionized modern Chinese gynecology and oncology.
