Our Flag Is Also Green and Yellow

Exhibition curated by Fátima Tassinari and Edson Feitosa displays photos from the LGBT+ Parade SP 2024, which had as its theme the defense of rights and conscious voting against setbacks.

This year, the São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade invited the public to wear green and yellow for the largest LGBT+ march in the world, in order to protest against the wing of society that propagates intolerance and hatred. This was inspired by what happened in Copacabana, where both Madonna and Pablo Vittar wore the colors of Brazil with the aim of rescuing and re-signifying the national identity.

And inspired by this movement, the São Paulo LGBT Pride Parade Association and FOTOCIRCUITO (Urban photography project focusing on spontaneous recordings and visual investigation), curated by Edson Feitosa and Fátima Tassinari, present the exhibition Our Flag is Also Green and Yellow with photos by ten Brazilian photographers.

The exhibition represents part of the vast production carried out throughout the event, where from very early on the photographers, armed with enthusiasm, with a camera in hand and many ideas in their heads, accepted the important challenge and recorded with great pride this historic day where millions of excited, creative and joyful participants painted the streets green and yellow to create a great rainbow of love.

And at the end of this fascinating and enchanting journey, thousands of photographs were produced. Part of them will be incorporated into the collection of the history of the São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade, contributing to disseminating research on the memory and culture of the LGBT+ population and the selection that makes up the exhibition Our Flag is Also Green and Yellow shows a little of these brave Brazilian people who make the celebration happen.
