and not very dense
The urban design would be marked by a rigorous 17 km long grid. The city was the longest among the selected proposals.
If that project had won
Brasilia would reach as far as where Guará and Parkway regions are located today.
The sectors of the city
would consist of the housing areas, the government center, the commercial center, the industrial and military zones and the National Park, place for recreational facilities, cultural centers, hotels and also the university.

Two housing typologies
would be present in the plan: in addition to a large area intended for single-family houses, superblocks with high-rise buildings were proposed. Curiously, it was suggested that the houses should be intended for families and the apartment buildings for singles and widowers.
Housing for the Candangos
were a distinguishing feature of this project. The proposal would be the only one to consider collective housing for the builders of Brasilia, the so-called Candandgos. Later on, this area would be destined for the workers of the industrial zone.
The superblocks
would be arranged along extensive avenues, where housing buildings of up to ten floors, local commerce and leisure and collective use facilities would be located.

A pedestrian esplanade
about 25m wide and 400m long would be proposed to house the public administration and the city’s civic and cultural events. Within it would be located the palaces of the three powers and monuments such as the museum, library and cathedral.
Several monuments
would be arranged along this great esplanade, with the palace of the Executive Power as its final point. A solution very similar to the project of Lúcio Costa, who chose as its center the seat of the Legislative Power, the well-known National Congress.

"A city with an intense and serious work atmosphere”
said the authors of the project. Economic and administrative activities would be located mainly in the commercial sector. There is a rigid distribution and repetition of buildings parallel to the axes of the urban tissue.
Shops and services
would be distributed along a large avenue. Low-rise buildings would house stores, bars and restaurants, while high-rise buildings would be used for offices and other services.
Visit the city’s
commercial and administrative center. Its large, wooded, walkable spaces include commercial, financial and institutional buildings.
