Time travel through 700 years of Franconian history
The Franconian Open-Air Museum explores and conveys how earlier generations lived, built, resided and worked, mainly in villages or small towns. A wide variety of metalworking techniques and the use of these products can be discovered in the museum!
The smithy is a staple feature of most villages.
Before the mechanization of agriculture, the work of the village blacksmith essentially consisted of three areas: farriery, wainwrighting and tool and utensil making. Craftsmen keep this tradition alive to this day with presentations in the museum.
