Paul Weimann was a famous painter from Wrocław. Apart from Wrocław, he also studied painting in Berlin. The artist painted mainly landscapes and he was best known for the views of the Karkonosze Mountains. He created realistic, atmospheric paintings referring to romantic painting, which he painted outdoors and finished in his studio. This painting shows a popular motif in the artist's work, that is, Śnieżne Kotły in the Karkonosze Mountains. An interesting procedure was the use of beige, slightly pink light emphasizing the blues in the picture.
